|Bringing Back Holleywood||
Bill Sigsworth (discoverer of original handpainted ceiling in a closet) took a photo of the thermometer left behind from the tag sale. On July 22, it registered 120 as he and others worked on the roof. To my dismay, the reading didn't deter them. "We decided we wouldn't come down until the bulb went red."
We are grateful to Lakeville Journal photographer Mark Niedhammer for sharing a marvelous series of house portraits he took of Holleywood just before the sale of its contents last year. How shorn the rooms seem now, stripped of wallpaper, denuded of furniture, floors covered by paper instead of rugs.
who we are
We are a couple of Upper West Siders from NYC who never set out to buy an old mansion in Connecticut. But the moment we walked through its massive front door, we were smitten. The info on this site is earnestly cobbled from a variety of sources, including the web. Please let us know if we've gotten something wrong, or if there's a story about Holleywood you'd like to share.
